I’m sitting, watching the Oscars, and for the first time in quite a while feeling totally relaxed. I’m enjoying the people watching – doesn’t Michelle Williams look pretty – and finally having a moment to myself. We figured out how to use our Moby sling and hubby has very graciously taken Robbie for a little while to give me a break.
This week has been pretty crazy as Robbie’s been going through his first growth spurt. This basically translates to even less sleep at night than normal, and me being very tied to him during the day. I don’t think I have moved a lot from the couch or my feeding chair over the past few days!! I’m pretty excited though as I’ve pumped for the first time and we’re going to try giving Robbie a bottle tonight. Once Robbie’s able to take bottles we’ll be able to pass him off to his loving grandparents the odd night and actually have some time for ourselves! Doesn’t that just seem like a dream right now.
This week I’m going to try a few adventures by myself during the day. I haven’t tried driving yet (or handling Robbie’s car seat) but that’s the plan so that I can become a little more mobile. There are Well Baby drop ins every day of the week in Ottawa, which are drop ins manned by public nurses, so that I can ask for answers on all sorts of questions I have on Robbie – like why he goes into screaming fits, how can I help him to stop him crying every time he has a bowel movement, and is he adding on enough weight. I’m also going to stop by a playgroup drop in meant for infants which should be a good chance to meet other new moms in the neighbourhood. Finally I have a few other friends that have had babies recently and there’s an ongoing Friday lunch that I’m going to pop by for the first time this week. I’m so looking forward to seeing the outside of my house!!
It wouldn’t be a personal finance blog without a quick mention on finances. We hit a mortgage milestone this week of bringing our mortgage down under the $300K mark. Woohoo!!! Okay what is with Gwyneth Paltrow’s cape? I’m sure the dress underneath would look great if I could see it. Oh the other hand I’m surprisingly liking the way Cameron Diaz looks. I think I more enjoy looking at everyone’s dresses than the actual awards themselves. Hope everyone’s having fun Oscar watching!

You just enjoy yourself and that baby, he will be gone before you know it. Congrats on getting below $300,00. Yikes!
Where have I been? Congrats on the birth of your baby!
Thank you! lol I’ve been pretty MIA from blogs these days – it’s all I can do to get a few posts out! Hopefully that changes soon.
